Wedding songs

I'm 36. Born in 1973. The disco era...although when I actually started listening to music, the 80's were in full force and Michael Jackson was my hero.

Yet some days I think I should have lived through the 60's.....I am addicted to the 60's music station on satellite radio. Songs seemed simpler...more upbeat, less altered by synthesizers and voice overs. I would have had a blast dancing to these tunes...

A favorite? Sam Cooke. Nothing like a little "Cupid" or "another Saturday night" to make one smile.

Was this always me? Am I an old soul when it comes to music?

I remember travelling with my parents when I was mid teens and listening to the song "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me" by Mel Carter over and over and over...It came on the satellite last night and I cried.

What the?? Since when does a song with that title make me weepy?

So my brother sent me the song they have chosen for their first dance...a nice modern day love song. What did I choose as my wedding song?

Buddy Holly...True Love Ways.

I say no more..

What was your wedding song and would you still choose it today?

  1. I don't think I even know the song you had. But I love old music too. Our wedding songs. Yes, songs were:

You Make Me Smile by Jennifer Love Hewitt (yes, the actress from Ghost Whisperer and Party of Five - Jay loves her)
Don't Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith
Time of My Life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warren (from Dirty Dancing)

And Jay's cousin sang From This Moment by Shania Twain during the ceremony.

Yes, we would still choose them today, we still love each and every one. When I hear them they take me back to that incredible day when I married the love of my life.

    Sappy eh!

  3. Since we got married in Hawaii we had Izreal- Some Where Over the Rainbow/What a wonderful world medley for our song. I have zero regrets about the song we chose. I am like you too I love old songs.

  4. Our wedding song was "Lost" by Blue Rodeo - we thought it was aptly titled at the time, but Greg Keelor is actually my least fave of the two singers in the band (I love Jim Cuddy's voice - gives me chills) - but it's probably the most country song of theirs ever and we've always been more alternative in our musical leanings. Go figure. I'd still use it today, - that line "I want all the world to know, that your love's all I need..." - still melts my heart is is so true.

  5. I love older music too. I often listen to the "oldies" station!

Our Wedding song was "I Could Not Ask For More" by Edwin McCain and I still LOVE it!
